Major Brookfield Suite
Named for the original builder, the spacious Major Brookfield Suite includes a larger room with King-size, four-poster, iron bed, and additional twin bed. Four framed lithographic prints of European medieval cities grace one wall, while the other hand plastered walls display Audubon Prints of birds of the Coastal Plains of Texas.
An adjoining small, yet spacious, Sitting Room faces northwest, shaded by a large walnut tree. The cheerful Copenhagen Blue room includes a trundle bed with two twin beds, a wicker writing desk and a Windsor reading chair.
The Sitting Room lends itself as a children’s room, reading room or additional accommodation for family or friends. There is a private entrance to the Sitting Room from outside, and the door separating it from the larger Major Brookfield room can be closed for privacy.
Of note is the exposed stone wall between the two rooms. This visual enhancement is the original exterior wall of the Historic Stonehouse against which the Sitting Room, a bathroom and the Butler Pantry were added in the 1980’s to provide a modern service wing for the building. The exterior stone wall is visible in all three rooms.
The spacious, two-room suite includes an adjoining large, private bathroom accessed through a short common hallway between the two rooms. Twin sinks face the exposed, stone wall opposite a toilet and Jacuzzi bathtub with shower. The bathroom has two locking doors for restricting access to the Brookfield Suite, or for access off the Kitchen, via the Butler’s Pantry and Laundry Room, a feature that proves very useful for hosting events in the Stonehouse.
